Today we're gonna dive into the first step of planet channeling, which is to pick your planet or planets, because yes, you can talk to more than one, but today we're gonna talk about talking to one planet, and I wanna make sure you're picking the right planet for the job. So if you're like, planet channeling, what, how do I, what is this?
How do I even do it? I have a full tutorial on my website. It is free, and you can access it@astrologywithclaire.com slash clarity. Before we dive into picking the right planet for your channeling session. Also want to let you know that the so below society's first Planet Coch channeling session is coming up.
It's on October 17th. I would love to see you there. You can join us@astrologywithclaire.com slash so below society that's so Below society, all one word. Okay, so why does picking the right planet matter? So here's the thing. All the planets in your astrology chart have a specific job. And different planets have not only different jobs, but they have different areas of expertise, like imagine them as people with huge bodies of knowledge in a very specific area.
Like I'm an astrologer, so I have a body of knowledge in astrology, but maybe you're an accountant and so you have a huge body of knowledge in terms of bookkeeping and accounting and taxes, stuff that I don't know anything about. Right. It's the same thing with your planets. So different planets have different areas of expertise.
They have different skill sets, and they have different knowledge bases. So for example, Saturn knows a lot about long-term planning as opposed to the moon, which doesn't do anything long-term. It moves so quickly, it changes so rapidly. It's not a long-term plan in kind of go right. The Moon knows a lot more about daily self-care and daily routine than Saturn Does.
Saturn's like self-care? What? No, we just work hard. Okay. So just a silly example, but you know, Saturn is gonna have a different body of knowledge than the moon, and so you'd wanna ask Saturn for advice on very different things than you might ask the moon for advice on. Planets also have different areas of influence, areas of life that they can actually turn the wheel in, they can do stuff in, they have rulership over certain life topics, and they can actually create change in these jurisdictions, if you will.
So if you want to create significant change, let's say in a relationship you might want to talk with or confer with the planet that has rulership over relationships in your astrology chart, and no, that's not always Venus, and I'll get to that in a bit. If you're looking to influence your career. You'd wanna talk to your specific career planet for advice.
And this isn't just because they have knowledge and expertise in this area, but it's because, again, they have influence. They can actually do stuff in this area of life. So if you're not already giving your planet's assignments. That's, I guess we could do another podcast episode on that. But if you're not already given your planets assignments and work to do, uh, you are missing out.
They love to help you out. So part of planet channeling is, yes, it's receiving guidance, but it's also using the planets as allies, as employees, even or as assistants who are really eager to help you. So you wanna choose the planet that can actually do something in that life area. What happens if you pick the wrong planet to channel?
Now I'm kind of like counteracting the entire like name of this podcast episode and everything. But truthfully, like deep down, I don't think you can actually pick wrong because at least with the way I view this system. All of your planets have your best interests at heart, and they're all gonna give you something useful.
Now, you may not get the best information from. Mercury, if you're asking about a Saturn topic, but you can still get information. And so the benefit of maybe asking the quote wrong planet is you get a different perspective that you wouldn't get otherwise. But let's just, let's just say you pick the wrong planet.
What's gonna happen? You are either not gonna get an answer 'cause that planet doesn't know what to say, or you're gonna get kind of information that's incomplete or that feels a little inaccurate or off or isn't quite what you were looking for. Again, because that planet doesn't have a knowledge base or influence in the area of life that you asked it about, but it's not the end of the world.
You can just ask again, just ask a different planet. So how do you know if a planet is right for the job? There are three ways that a planet can be the perfect one to ask, and those three ways are the planet is born with it, it manages it, or it lives in it. So let me explain. Born with it, if a planet is born with it, meaning the knowledge.
It has innate rulership over your topic of interest. For example, we typically think of Venus as the planet of romantic relationships and love, so Venus is born with it. Venus is born with the innate rulership over love and partnership. Just like Saturn is born with innate rulership over work and hardship.
Okay, so I'm gonna go through the innate rulerships later today, but I just wanna breeze over these three ways planets can have influence. The second way is it manages it. So a planet might rule the house that oversees this life topic or area. For example, the seventh house is the House of Marriage Partnership, romance, well, not really romance, but intimate relationship that has a contract or an agreement.
And let's pretend that you have Capricorn occupying the seventh house in traditional planetary rulerships, where a planet, each planet rules a collection of Zodiac signs. Saturn rules Capricorn, which would make Saturn the manager or the ruler of your seventh house, AKA, your intimate partnership.
And then the third way a planet can have the knowledge base or the influence is that it lives in it. So it's actually occupying or placed in the house that governs the life area. You want insight on? For example, again, let's use relationships. If you want insight on your intimate relationship and you have, let's pretend you have Mercury in the seventh house of relationships.
Yeah, you can ask Mercury about relationships. It's gonna have a lot of insight for you. So again, the three ways a planet can be right for the job is it's born with it. It manages it by rulership. Or it lives in it. Now, this might be a little bit more of an advanced aside, but I think it's really important there is a difference between a planet that's located in a house and a planet that's ruling a house, but located elsewhere.
So let's talk about the subtle differences between the two and the different kind of information you could ask, um, from each. So a planet that rules the house. Like I said before, it is like a manager. You can think of the house as maybe like a retail store and the planet that rules it as the manager who may not be there on site all the time, right?
But it owns the business or it owns the building. You could also think of it as a landlord, so this planet that rules the house. And when I say rule, again, I'm talking about planet's ruling Zodiac signs, for example, Jupiter rules, Sagittarius, the sun rules, Leo the moon rules cancer, yada, yada, yada. So the manager has the final say.
It describes the final outcome of that topic. And so you can talk to Ed about high level decisions about that life topic. Now a planet in the house influences the direct day-to-day experience of that topic. So it has more influence and insight over what's happening there in the immediate, because it's like an employee that's actually at the retail store every day, folding the clothes, checking out the customers, and all of that stuff.
So both planets have valuable perspectives and influence, but they're slightly different.
All right, let's go through all three ways a planet can be perfect for the channeling job and take it a little deeper. So let's start with born with It. So again, this is the innate topics that each planet has. Governance or rulership or jurisdiction over, for example, Venus is the planet of love. It's born with it, it's innate, and all of the planets have innate topics that you can ask them about.
So let's start with the sun. The sun is born with information about your identity, who you are, your purpose, why you're here. It also has info on how people see you, so your reputation and how you're viewed by the public. Speaking of being viewed. It's all about being visible and being seen. So if you want information on being in the spotlight, whether that's comfort or discomfort, tips or ways to hide, the sun is your planet.
The sun also has innate jurisdiction over your vitality. So your energy, your body, it's one of the vital lights along with the moon and the chart. Ruler. Those are the planets that rule your health from a general standpoint. The sun being our brightest light also brings clarity. So anytime you're unsure on something, something feels murky and muddled, you're gonna wanna ask the sun.
The sun can also give you advice about leadership positions as well as creating a sense of magnetism in your work or in your life. It has this star power sort of thing. And if you want that special something in your business, in your life with your audience, you know, whatever your thing is, the sun is the planet to talk to.
Okay. What is the moon born with? The moon is born with a body of knowledge around the body, so this is the planet that rules the physical form that you inhabit. The sun is more of. A spiritual planet, it is the vital force that enlivens the physical container that you're in, but the physical container belongs to the moon.
So you can ask it about your body. You can ask it very specific questions about your food, about your sleep, about your personal rhythms of all kinds, including your daily routine. And your schedule and the moon is really good at understanding home and family dynamics and what you need to feel comfortable and at ease and at rest.
So talking to the moon about your house and about your family relationships is something that it would be eager to discuss. The moon also changes really rapidly. It fluctuates the most out of any other planet. And so you can talk to the moon about change, like generally, and specifically you can talk to it about, uh, fear of change.
You can talk to it about wanting to make a change. The moon has a lot to teach you about being flexible. And finally, the moon has innate knowledge over feelings, emotions, and moods. And so you can talk to the moon about those things as well. Mercury was born with innate wisdom around all things, communication, writing, speaking.
Listening, translating, publishing, podcasting, social media, networking, making connections. All of these things belong to Mercury. Mercury is also a planet of travel. So is the moon, by the way, just FYI. The moon is also a planet of riding. It's a long story. I can't get into it right now. Anyway, back to Mercury.
Mercury is a planet of travel. It's a planet of fine detail and organization. It is a planet that knows a lot about the written word. It also knows a lot about how to learn. And so asking it about, you know, styles of learning that are best for you, classes to take help on your homework, all of that stuff, mercury can assist.
And Mercury is great if you have technology questions or if you're like comparison shopping, computers or different tech stacks for your business, mercury would love to help you on that. Venus, as we've said a bazillion times already today, was born with the special knowledge and touch around relationships, specifically intimate one-to-one, personal romantic relationships, but also business relationships.
Any relationship where there's an agreement or a contract between people one-to-one, that's Venus. Venus is also a money planet, so any questions about money, ask Venus to come along. This includes questions about your stuff, what you possess. Venus also loves to chat about how you look, your personal style, your appearance, your clothing, your jewelry, your appointments to get your eyebrows done, all of that stuff.
Venus loves to talk about that. Venus also loves harmony. So work life balance, having fun, increasing pleasure in life, and also, um, artistic endeavors. So art, music, beauty, anything that enhances the joy in your life and that little extra bit of luxury. Venus wants to talk about it.
Mars was born with all of the information on taking action. So if you want a 10 step plan, if you wanna know the next thing to do, Mars is the planet to ask. It's a great planet when you have a very specific decision to make. Mars is sharp. It is cut and dry, and it is direct, and it will tell you very efficiently and effectively which choice to make.
If you need help asserting yourself, taking a stand, being courageous, being bold, Mars is the planet to talk to if you need help. Getting understanding around difficult feelings like rage or anger. Mars might be a planet to ask for insight about. It might be a little close to the situation. You might wanna bring in a mediator like Venus, but Mars has a lot of information around why you may feel that way.
Mars is also a great planet to ask about physical energy, your metabolism, how energy flows through your body, peaks and valleys of energy throughout the day. When is the best time for you to work out and how that kind of stuff. Mars loves that. Mars also loves to talk about passion. What is really motivating to you?
Like why do you do what you do? And if you need to cut ties with something, if you need to sever something, remove something from your life or stop something. Mars is really good at that too.
Jupiter was born with a lot of wisdom because it's the planet of wisdom. So if you want like a sage talking to, if you want some wise advice, if you wanna sit down with like a, a really wise planet, ask Jupiter and maybe Saturn. But Jupiter has a lot of insight on personal growth. This is the planet that takes all of.
All of the webinars, all of the courses, all of the classes does all of the spiritual, um, growth activities. Like that's what it wants to chat about. It is also a planet that has some influence around wealth and status and elevation. It's also a planet that has a lot of perspective. So if you need help seeing the big picture, Jupiter.
Is your planet. Jupiter is also great with travel questions, particularly if you're traveling long distance, if you wanna go on an adventure, if you wanna plan some type of of trip, especially overseas, Jupiter is the one to go with, and also happiness and fulfillment. You know, asking Jupiter how you could feel more fulfilled is something that it has a lot of expertise in.
And finally we have Saturn. Last, but definitely not least, Saturn has a lot of insight on creating stability. Like I said earlier, it is the planet of long-term plans. It loves to make sure you are prepared for the future, even if that's not sexy or fun. It is the planet of pouring foundations that last through thick and thin.
Through all the storms of life. Saturn also is a planet of boundaries. It can teach you about how to say no gracefully, and it's a planet of responsibility. So if you're trying to figure out what's the next responsible action, which what makes the most sense, not just for you today, but your future self, 10 years from now, Saturn is the planet to ask.
It's also got a lot of insight on your perceived limitations and blocks and any fears that you might deal with in your life. So if you wanna have a conversation with Saturn about that, you know, no big deal, just some light conversation. Saturn has a lot to say about your inner workings. And real quick, what about the outer planets?
So, in my perspective, you know, I'm a traditional astrologer and outer planets in my lineage of astrology. They do not rule zodiac signs and therefore they do not rule houses or specific life areas and topics. Can you channel them 100%. But I always like to meet outer planets with an intermediary. Just because they're so extreme.
So I like to invite, like Venus or the Moon to come along, or the sun to kind of help me translate, um, my message with the outer planet. Also, because the outer planets are so far away, it can be a little, um, more difficult to connect with them. So they don't rule things. They're not like the cupcake, they're just the sprinkles on the cupcake, if that makes sense.
Okay, so that was born with it. Let's move to the second way. A planet can be the right planet for the channeling job, and that is, it manages it. So remember. Management of a life area is based on traditional planetary rulership. So the Sun rules Leo the Moon Rules cancer, mercury rules, Gemini and Virgo.
Venus Rules Taurus and Libra. Mars rules Aries and Scorpio. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces and Saturn rules Capricorn and Aquarius. I just did that off the top of my head. I hope I didn't forget anyone. But when you're using whole sign houses, which is what I use, one zodiac sign occupies each house, and so the planet that rules that Zodiac sign becomes by default, the manager or the landlord of that house and the life topics that it represents.
For example, in my chart, my seventh house of relationship is occupied by the sign of Gemini. Gemini is ruled by Mercury. So Mercury is my relationship planet. It manages my seventh house. So remember that planets that rule houses are like landlords or managers of a store. They may not be there for the day-to-day activities, but they are in charge of taking care of the property and they make the final decisions.
So it's good to talk to a managing or ruling planet when you need to make a high level, long lasting change in that area. It because it has the power to do so. It's the planet that owns the property, right? And then the last way that a planet can be perfect for the channeling job is that it lives in it.
So it occupies or is located in the house that's correlated with the topic you want insight on. So if I wanted, for example, insight on how to get back on social media. Which is a real thing I need insight on. Where am I gonna look? Well, I am going to look to the third house first because in my opinion, that's one of the houses that rules social media.
And I could either talk to the ruler, you know, the manager of the third house, or I could talk to the planets that live in my third house. And I have two of them. I have the moon and I have Jupiter. So these are the boots on the ground planets. They're the ones that are actively in that life area day after day doing the work.
They are the employees. If you wanna go with the retail store sort of manager, employee analogy. They don't necessarily have the power to change the overall outcome of my social media story, but they definitely can influence the day-to-day feeling how the shop is running. And they have a lot of insight for me on the details and like the tea.
Okay, if there's gossip going on in the third house, these are the planets that are gonna know about it. Right? Right. Okay. So I hope that was a thorough enough guide to get you started channeling the right planet. So for your quote homework, your next step, if you are really nerdy about this, I suggest making yourself a cheat sheet or a reference sheet, listing out all of your planets and all the things that they.
Could talk to you about, remember there's three things. They're born with it, they manage it, or they live in it. Now I do this for you in my one-to-one service, guided along with. A visualization inspiration sheet for each planet. Like I give you one full, uh, piece of paper with visualization information, topic inspiration, like all the things for each planet.
So if you want me to do it for you, come work with me and guided, but you can certainly give this a go on your own. Just list out the seven traditional planets and write out what they're born with, what they manage, and what house they live in. And that's gonna be your cheat sheet for whenever you are like, okay, I have a question about my dog, uh, which Planet Rules pets?
So it's gonna be the ruler of the six house, just by the way, or any planet in the sixth house, but that's how you get started with what we did today. So if you enjoyed this episode. Share it with a friend, and I haven't asked this yet, but I'm gonna, I'm gonna start asking, it's, it's hard for me to ask this question, but if you are enjoying I talk to planets, please leave a five star review so that more people can find the show and experience the magic of planet channeling you will really help this introvert out.
If you share this show with a friend and you leave a five star loving review, I will love you forever. Thank you so much for listening. I hope that you are enjoying your planet channeling practice. It is something that is just so rich and so beneficial in my own life, and I feel so grateful that I get to share it with you on the podcast.
